About
Dr Jawad Syed is a lecturer in human resource management at Kent Business School, University of Kent, UK. His main academic interests include gender and diversity in organisations, cross-cultural HRM, strategic HRM and organisational knowledge.
Dr Syed received his PhD in human resource management from Macquarie University, Australia, and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education at the University of Kent, UK. In addition, he has received Masters of International Business from the University of Western Sydney, Australia.
In his professional life, Dr Syed has worked as a manager, researcher and lecturer in organisations and institutions in various countries including Australia, Pakistan and the UK.
Dr Syed has widely written on issues related to business and HRM including his articles in the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Human Resource Management Review, Management Learning, Women's Studies International Forum, and Gender, Work and Organization.
Dr Syed has co-edited two books with Professor Mustafa Ozbilgin, namely Managing Cultural Diversity in Asia: a research companion (Edward Elgar, 2010), Managing Gender Diversity in Asia: a research companion (Edward Elgar, 2010). He is currently editing a text book, with Professor Robin Kramar, namely Human Resource Management in a Global Context: a critical approach (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010).
Dr Syed has presented his research at various international conferences including Academy of Management (USA), Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management, British Academy of Management, and Critical Management Studies. Dr Syed can be reached at j.syed@kent.ac.uk
