About

I am a lecturer in Work Psychology and Human Resource Management at Kent Business School, University of Kent. I am also the Deputy Director of the MBA programme, in which I convene one module (Managing People and Organisations). I also convene one final-year module on Work Psychology and one masters level module called Learning and Development.

Before coming to Kent, I spent two years in Tokyo where I was a Post-Doc fellow in Tokyo, sponsored by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS), where I looked at globalisation strategies of multinational organisations. I was part of a research project funded by the Bertelsmann Stiftung, Germany looking into acculturation processes of large international companies, investigating the extent of localising management styles and how it fits into the larger global vision of multinational companies.

I received my PhD from the University of Sheffield's Psychology Department and it was supervised by Prof Paul Jackson, currently at Manchester Business School. My PhD thesis looked at using complexity theory to compare individual and organisational change management strategies.

I have successfully supervised two PhD students to completion and currently first supervise two more and second supervise a few more with colleagues.

My research interests include the role of trust and communication in managing change effectively, managing the creative process in organisations, and the application of complexity theories in managing effective change strategies. I am currently involved in a cross-cultural comparison project looking at knowledge management systems and incentivising employees with colleagues at the University of Texas. I also have a University Faculty grant which is looking at tipping points of mainstream behaviour. We are currently collecting two lots of data, one of which is inhouse, but the other is available here - http://kbs.qualtrics.com/SE?SID=SV_6z0FqsLv0QOFqio&SVID=

- It will only take 5 minutes of your time! :)
