About

I am interested in the spatiality of social life and particularly the sexuality of the city. My work draws on various influences - from environmental psychology through to post-structural/queer theory - in an attempt to understand how the city reproduces social difference. I have published on geographies of migrant settlement, student housing and urban planning, but am most interested in geographies of prostitution, sex work and commercial sexual exchange. I have published or co-edited 10 books, with 'Cities and Sexualities' (2011) pulling together a number of strands in my work concerning the ways that sexuality is regulated and governed through space.
